The fair is almost as old as the county itself, with the first official fair held back in 1904. Local residents and visitors from all over Colorado look forward to this annual event including carnival rides, shows, exhibits, games, 4-H competitions, concerts and classic fair food such as delicious funnels cakes, corn dogs and lemonade.
If you love the outdoors; head over to Barr Lake State Park for the day. Visitors enjoy wildlife, fishing, boating, horse back riding, biking and hiking.
After a long day of outdoor activities, dine at one of the local restaurants such as Pinocchio's Italian Eatery, or Lauer-Krauts; famous for their Kraut Burgers; but be prepared to wait as this place is popular. Other top choices are the River Bottom Pub and La Estrellita's, known for their huge servings and cozy outdoor patio.
